LAPD News:

Today, Police Chief Dino Sgambellone released crime statistics through the second quarter of 2023, which were compiled by the Records Section of the Los Alamos Police Department (LAPD).

During the second quarter of 2023, there was a significant increase in fraud cases reported to the Department. Citizens are reminded not to provide personal identifying information especially social security numbers and bank account information. Fraudsters will identify themselves as law enforcement or other government officials.

Any citizen who questions the veracity of such emails and calls can always contact the police department for review.

While many factors can contribute to crime rates within a community, LAPD would like to recognize and thank our community partners for sustaining a high quality of life by contributing to our low crime rate through the combined efforts of enforcement, education, prevention and treatment.

The Los Alamos Police Department appreciates the community’s involvement in maintaining an exceptionally low crime rate and high quality of life. The Police Department remains committed to being an effective partner with our citizens and business owners.
