Letter To The Editor: Don’t Take Photos On Lab Property

After three months I am picking up this letter I wrote and didn’t send so that I can warn others in Los Alamos about what can happen if you take a photo from the wrong place. I can’t warn tourists who might get caught in this mistake, but I can tell locals.
 
I had a 7 o’clock meeting at the lab cafeteria. When I came out, the mountains were gorgeous. I got my camera out of the car and walked to the end of the parking lot to take a photograph.

Aspen Ridge Hosts Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Presentation June 7

The Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program (EEOICPA) will give a presentation on qualifications for medical benefits and how to apply for occupational illness compensation.
 
The presentation is directed to wmployees of Los Alamos National Laboratory and Sandia Laboratories.
 
The presentation is 2-3 p.m., June 7, in the Activity Roomin the lower level at Aspen Ridge Assisted Living Lodge, 1010 Sombrillo Court.

NASA’s Kepler mission has verified 1,284 new planets – the single largest finding of planets to date.

“This announcement more than doubles the number of confirmed planets from Kepler,” said Ellen Stofan, chief scientist at NASA Headquarters in Washington. “This gives us hope that somewhere out there, around a star much like ours, we can eventually discover another Earth.”

U.S. Sen. Martin Heinrich, D-N.M., stopped by the Los Alamos Daily Post newspaper this afternoon following visits to Descartes Labs, Los Alamos National Laboratory, Cottonwood on the Greens at the Golf Course and the Democratic Campaign Headquarters in Central Park Square. Heinrich visited the newspaper in 2013 to congratulate the news team on its small business of the year award.
