LANL News:

Taraka Dale is honored as this quarter’s Frontiers in Science speaker by the Los Alamos National Laboratory Fellows.

Her talk will be distributed 6 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 29, on the Laboratory You Tube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/losalamosnationallab

Taraka is the LANL team lead for the BOTTLE Consortium, an alliance of 10 research institutions and the U.S. Department of Energy striving to use Bio-Optimized Technologies to keep Thermoplastics out of Landfills and the Environment. Each institution is contributing to solve the global plastic problem in a unique way.

LANL is using smart microbial cell technology to discover a biocatalyst that can break down plastic into a sludge that could then be repurposed into other material such as nylon.
