ESPAÑOLA — Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) Foundation is accepting nominations for community members from Northern New Mexico to serve on the Los Alamos Employees’ Scholarship Fund (LAESF)  Advisory Committee.

The Committee seeks to attain a diverse composition of members, taking into account county of residence, experience, gender, professional background, and other factors deemed relevant, with the goal of building a Committee that reflects the diversity of the donor population and the Northern New Mexico communities served. 

The Committee operates under the umbrella of the LANL Foundation and receives assistance and guidance from the LANL Community Partnerships Office. Members serve three-year terms and may serve two, three-year terms consecutively or non-consecutively.

Committee members are expected to attend monthly meetings (currently virtual) and two day-long retreats annually. Committee members must also maintain status as an active donor to the scholarship fund, with no minimum donation amount required.

Committee members are directly involved in: 

• Outreach to schools to solicit scholarship applications from students in the seven Northern New Mexico counties of Los Alamos, Mora, Rio Arriba, Sandoval, San Miguel, Santa Fe and Taos;
• Performing the application evaluations and selections of scholarship recipients;
• Maintaining the criteria and ranking methods for the scholarship; and
• Fundraising for the scholarship program.

Interested candidates may contact LAESF Committee Past-Chair Cassandra Casperson at casperson@lanl.gov to request a self-nomination form. Nomination forms are due no later than July 17. The 2022-2023 term begins with a full-day retreat Friday, Aug. 26.
