LANB’s John Gulas Named Among Top N.M. CEOs

Albuquerque Business First has announced its annual list of top CEOs and Los Alamos National Bank CEO John Gulas is among the 20 honorees.

The CEOs were nominated by the public and then asked to submit an application with information about personal achievements, leadership and community involvement.

John S. Gulas was appointed Chief Executive Officer of LANB and President/CEO of Trinity Capital Corporation May 29, 2014. He also was appointed at that time as a member of the Boards of Directors of LANB and TCC.

Gulas brought more than 26 years of banking and financial services experience to the post. Prior to joining LANB and TCC, Gulas was president and CEO of Farmers National Banc Corporation (Farmers), a position he held since July 2010. Gulas was recognized by the American Bankers Association for leading Farmers to national acclaim as one of the top community banks in the country, and under his management in 2012 and 2013, Farmers was named by Bank Director Magazine as one of the best banks with $1-$5 Billion in assets.

July 2008 to 2010, Gulas served as Farmers’ COO and as president and CEO of Sky Trust Co., N.A. from 2005 to 2007. Gulas also held executive roles with Wachovia and Key Bank.

Gulas is a graduate of Youngstown State University with a Bachelors of Arts and The University of Toledo with a Juris Doctor degree. Gulas and his wife Chesney have twin daughters.

The Albuquerque Business First judges who evaluated applications for the 2015 Top CEOs list include Margaret Lewis Meister, lawyer at Modrall Sperling; Mary Martinez, owner and CEO of Home Instead Senior Care; Chris Dunkeson, area vice president of Comcast Cable; Rebecca L. Avita, executive director at the National Hispanic Cultural Center; and Stacy Ertle, director of Bridges Inc.

Out of the 20 honorees selected from the business services, health, nonprofit and technology industries, one will be recognized as the winner in each category. Those winners will be announced at the Top CEOs Networking Reception & Awards Luncheon, Oct. 22, at the Albuquerque Convention Center. Registration and ticket information is available here.
