COMMUNITY News:

Los Alamos National Bank is gearing up for the fall and winter season of giving. The bank’s employees participate in a variety of fundraisers to benefit those in need. The bank has also been part of the Cornerstone Leaders of United Way of Northern New Mexico since the program’s inception. Along with fellow Cornerstone Companies, the bank donates to cover the cost of doing business, works on the critical needs in its communities and helps with raising donations.

In 2016, LANB hit a milestone for having donated more than $1 million to United Way of Northern New Mexico.

LANB leadership supports the organization with key employees volunteering time and talent as UWNNM Board Members. Liddie Martinez, LANB Market President in Los Alamos, has been a donor for decades and serves on the board as President Elect.

“I am honored to serve on the United Way Board with committed regional leaders. Together we have learned about the needs of our communities by visiting the nonprofit organizations in the region and meeting the people who benefit from the services provided. Being an engaged citizen and helping our neighbors embodies our mission of Living United,” she said.

Martinez will be spearheading the bank’s fundraising efforts for the Los Alamos, White Rock and Espanola markets. There are silent auctions with goods/services donated by employees to be bid on by other employees, cooking contests and a newly added favorite, the Friday treat cart! Talented employee bakers donate delicious home-baked treats that are placed on a cart for a mobile bake sale that visits every desk in the branch twice per month. This highly popular event is fast becoming a favorite and sold out on its inaugural run.

This year is also exciting in that the all-time favorite Parade of Pigs will be making a comeback! LANB employees are highly enthusiastic about the return of this very popular internal fundraising event where they volunteer to paint and decorate white ceramic piggy banks that are auctioned off to the highest bidder during the annual holiday auction.

Casual Day Stickers are another favorite with the LANB team. Stickers can be purchased to wear with LANB corporate wear and jeans throughout the campaign. They symbolize a contribution to the UWNM and allow employees a little extra leniency with the dress code during the cold winter months. This is a favorite time of year for LANB employees, knowing that their contributions are also part of a matching component by the bank to double the good will for such a great cause!
