LAMS News:

The Los Alamos Middle School MATHCOUNTS team placed second March 8, at the state MATHCOUNTS competition.

The state contest was held at Albuquerque Academy. The team was made up of Do Vo, Donald Posten, Antonio Dowdy and Christopher Koh.

Vo placed second overall. Posten placed 5th overall. Fuehne and Dowdy each placed in the top 16. In addition, Connor Rittner placed in the top eight of those competing as individuals (not on an official team). Vo’s placing puts him on the New Mexico National Team. He will compete at the national competition in Orlando, Fla. in May.

The MATHCOUNTS Competition Program is designed to excite and challenge middle school students. The program has four levels of competition: local, district, state and nationals.  The Los Alamos Middle School team placed first Feb. 8 at the district competition.

The team’s coaches are Phuong Nguyen and Jane Lataille.
