Los Alamos Medical Center (LAMC) Nurse Genevieve Fairchild was honored as the recipient of the 2023 Daisy Award during a ceremony Monday in the hospital lobby.

The Daisy Award recognizes the super-human work nurses do for patients and families every day wherever they practice, in whatever role they serve, and throughout their careers – from Nursing Student through Lifetime Achievement in Nursing.

LAMC’s Chief Nursing Officer Donald Hislop spoke about the special award.

“Nursing is a very rewarding profession because of how our patients impact us personally,” Hislop said. “The feeling of making a difference in someone’s life reminds us that we have chosen the right career path. To be recognized by our patients and by our community is truly a special reward. I am so proud to work with our nominees daily and was so excited to see them get the recognition they deserve.”

Monday’s ceremony was the first time since 2018 that LAMC could celebrate the annual Daisy Award event due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
