Los Alamos Medical Center announced Thursday that Patrick Fisher has been recognized as the hospital’s 2018 Mercy Award winner.
Fisher works in LAMC’s Medical Records Department.
The Mercy Award recognizes one employee from each of LifePoint Health’s hospitals who profoundly touches the lives of others and best represents the spirit and values on which the company was founded.
The Mercy Award is an annual recognition program established in 2002 to honor the life and contributions of Scott Mercy, LifePoint’s founding chairman and chief executive officer.
The award is considered the highest honor a LifePoint employee can receive.
“At Los Alamos Medical Center, we share LifePoint’s commitment to making communities healthier, and we recognize this is supported by the good work and service of our employees both on and off the job,” LAMC CEO John Whiteside said. “We are extremely proud to recognize Patrick for his efforts on behalf of our patients and our community. He goes above and beyond each and every day to ensure that every person he encounters receives the highest level of care and compassion.”
Each hospital winner, including Fisher, will be considered for LifePoint’s 2018 company-wide Mercy Award. The company-wide winner will be announced this summer and will be honored at a special celebration in August in Nashville, Tenn., along with all other hospital winners.
Scott Mercy started his healthcare career right out of college and by 1994 was the youngest senior manager at HCA. In 1998, he was named CEO of the hospital group that would become LifePoint Hospitals and ultimately, LifePoint Health.
Mercy believed people working together toward a common goal can accomplish great things. His warmth, humor and down-to-earth style helped create a culture that still resonates through our halls. He influenced others with his desire to lead a balanced life to nurture family and career, maintain good health, give back to the community and make time for self-improvement and fun.
In 2000, just one year after LifePoint’s spin-off from HCA, Mercy died. His spirit carries on in the employees who embrace his philosophies and strive to reach the high standards he set.
