Los Alamos Little Theatre has announced a fundraising effort to support the purchase and installation of an assisted listening system in the Performing Arts Center, the facility in which LALT theatrical productions are staged.
“We have heard from many patrons over the years that their enjoyment of our productions would be greatly enhanced with an assisted listening system,” LALT President Gracie Cainelli said. “This system generates a signal that can be picked up directly by most hearing aids. They can be found in many facilities in Los Alamos County, such as Fuller Lodge and the Bradbury Science Museum.”
The system that has been identified for the Performing Arts Center will cost about $3,000 for parts and installation, and will include a limited number of headsets for those without compatible hearing aids.
“Los Alamos National Bank has committed to provide $1,500 toward the purchase of this system, or about half of what we need,” Cainelli said.
LANB’s contribution comes through its community reinvestment program.
“We also are benefitted by a matching grant of $750 from an anonymous benefactor,” Cainelli said. “Our final fundraising effort is for the $750 to match that contribution. We are hoping that if the many friends of LALT are each willing to give a little, we will raise all we need.”
Anyone interested in contributing to this effort can send a check made out to LALT to P.O. Box 211, Los Alamos, NM 87544. LALT also will have a donation box at upcoming productions until it reaches its goal. LALT is a 501(c)3 organization and contributions are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
