LAHS’s ‘Mary Poppins’ Up For Multiple Popejoy Awards!

The Los Alamos High School production of “Mary Poppins” has been nominated for the prestigious New Mexico High School Musical Theater Popejoy Award. In addition, Ben Hanlon has been nominated for Best Male actor and both Jessica and Lauren Partin have been nominated for Best Female Actor.

“We are very honored to be working with such a talented cast and crew on this production,” said Jason Rutledge, musical director for the show. “We are also very excited for this incredible opportunity for our students.”

Producer and director for the show is Olions sponsor Chas Shay and Patrick McDonald is the choreographer.

“I am incredibly excited to get to share this amazing experience with Ben and Jessica. I couldn’t have asked for a better cast and crew for my final year at LAHS,” Partin said.

Mary Poppins opened at Duane Smith Auditorium last weekend. This weekend’s performances are 7 p.m. April 28 and 29 and 2 p.m. April 29 and 30. Admission is $15 for adults, $10 for seniors and $5 for children aged four and under.

The Popejoy Awards are slated to be presented at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, May 14 at Popejoy Hall. Tickets are available through unmtickets.com at a cost of $40 for support seats, $25 general admission and $10 for students.
