The Los Alamos High School Cross Country Team divided its efforts this past weekend, and impressed everyone in both venues.
The Varsity and JV teams traveled to Colorado Springs for the Titan Thunder Invitational. Both Boys and Girls Varsity teams won, with Maddy Foley and Sophia Galvez setting the pace for the toppers in 2nd and 3rd places overall. The boys were lead by John Rees and Hayden Walker, in 4th and 5th places overall.
The six ‘Topper JV boys took the top six places in their race, achieving a perfect score, led by Shawn Williams and Elijah Velasquez. To few ‘Topper girls were running to score in the JV race, but Elise Koskelo led the team in 6th place overall.
The ‘Topper Boys and Girls C-Teams ran up a notch at the Northern New Mexico Challenge in Santa Fe, both competing in the JV race. Despite running in the more competitive race, the Girls won handily, paced by individual winner Ashlyn Baker and 2nd place Michaelle Sutton.
The boys were second behind Pecos, with ‘Topper McRae Palmer finishing a very strong 2nd overall.
The ‘Toppers next compete in two weeks at the Los Alamos Home Meet, held at the Golf Course Friday afternoon, Oct. 23. This is followed by the District Championship Oct. 31 and the State Championship Nov. 7.
