LAHS Students To Serve As School Board Liaisons

LAPS Superintendent Dr. Kurt Steinhaus

LAPS News:

Los Alamos Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Kurt Steinhaus congratulates five Los Alamos High School students for being selected to serve as liaisons to the School Board.

The new liaisons include:

  • Seniors John Rees and Deanna Gutierrez;
  • Juniors Neil DeHerrera and Claire DeCroix; and
  • Jennifer Wang will serve as an alternate.

Their work begins with attendance at a briefing session Oct. 7, and then a regular School Board meeting Oct. 13.

The School Board had a tough decision because there were 17 first-rate applicants, Steinhaus said, adding that those not selected on the list of five will be asked to serve on the Board’s Strategic Planning work group.

Steinhaus also extended thanks and appreciation to those who worked to make Homecoming 2015 a great success. The events and activities were well-planned and executed, he said and even with all of the distractions, teachers were still successful in moving the learning process forward.

While memories are still fresh, Steinhaus asked those involved to try to have a “lessons learned conversation” or simply record suggestions for next year.

“We want to hear your continuous improvement ideas,” he said. “THANKS!”
