Los Alamos High School sophomore Jenny Paige took 2nd place overall individual out of 43 in the Consumer Decision Making Contest at Western National 4-H Roundup, Jan. 7-10 in Denver, Colo.

She also competed on the Santa Fe County 4-H team, which placed fifth of 11 in the team Consumer Decision Making Contest. Contestants must win their state competitions prior to advancing to Nationals.

The Consumer Decision Making Contest requires youth to rank similar products based on standards of quality; to observe, compare and make decisions based on facts; and to organize thoughts and defend decisions. The ability to make and defend wise decisions is an important life skill that 4-H helps young people develop.
