LAHS Shows Solidarity To Florida High School

Students and staff, Los Alamos Public School administrators, community members and organizations such as the League of Women Voters participated in a school walkout this morning at Los Alamos High School. The walkout was to show solidarity to the shooting that left 17 people dead at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., and to voice support for ending violence in schools. Leah Wolfsberg, one of the organizers, said the walkout was a ‘really great opportunity to bring the school together and change the culture of the school so gun violence will never happen here’. Later, students were encouraged to go up to 17 individuals, adults and students, to offer up a compliment or an invitation to join them for lunch.
