LACS News:

The Los Alamos County Sheriffs’ Office has announced the 2014 New Mexico Sheriffs’ Associations Scholarship winners.

Wednesday evening, Sheriff Marco Lucero presented two scholastic scholarships Los Alamos High School graduating seniors Maria McTeigue and Sidney Ellis. Each student received a $600 scholarship.

The New Mexico Sheriffs’ Association sponsors golf tournaments each year, whereby each County Sheriff gathers players and sponsors to represent his County. All the proceeds go back to the County Sheriff and he presents the scholarship to the students from his local high school.

Sheriff Lucero thanked all of the students who participated in applying for the scholarship and explained how difficult it was to narrow down the applicants because of their “great resumes.” He also thanked “Viola’s Restaurant” for being a sponsor of this year’s scholarship event.
