LAHS Latin Students Win Medals And Certificates On National Latin Exam

Latin students at Los Alamos High School participated in the 2017 National Latin Exam in March. Seven students won gold medals, three won silver medals, and six earned Magna Cum Laude certificates. Overall, 22 students won a medal or certificate.

Gold Summa Cum Laude Medal Winners

  • Latin I: Marissa Smith

Silver Maxima Cum Laude Medal Winners

  • Latin I: Aidan Nakhleh
  • Latin II: Andres Vigil
  • Poetry III: Sean Collins

Magna Cum Laude Certificate Winners

  • Latin I: Elijah White
  • Latin II: Hannah Clegg, Holly Hayes, Jordan Bowman
  • Poetry III: William McCumber, Jacob Thompson

Cum Laude Certificate Winners

  • Latin I: Gage Ellis, Anna Lemke, Dennis Drew, Dylan Ma
  • Latin II: Jeremyah Palmer-Scott
  • Poetry III: Caleb Hatler

The National Latin Exam contains questions on grammar, comprehension, mythology, derivatives, literature, Roman life, history, geography, oral Latin, and Latin in use in the modern world.   More than 149,000 students from all 50 states and 16 foreign countries participated in the exam.
