LAHS Key Club Elects Officers For Next Year

KEY CLUB News:

The 75 members of the Los Alamos High School Key Club have elected their officers for the 2017-2018 school year.

The new officers include President-elect Miriam Wallstrom, Vice President-elect Radhika Iyer, Secretary-elect Sara Shiina, Co-Treasures-elect Zoe Hemez and Sophia Jeffrey, Historian-elect Catherine Rousculp, Senior Class Representative-elect Rachel Frankle and Junior Class Representative-elect Summer Bronson.

Sydne Ashford from LAHS was recently elected Lieutenant Governor of the Sangre de Cristo Division of the Southwest District and she will be installed during the final session of the convention.

Key Club International is the high school organization sponsored by Kiwanis International. Key Club assists Kiwanis in carrying out its mission to serve the children of the world. High school student members of Key Club perform acts of service in their communities. They also learn leadership skills by running meetings, planning projects and holding elected leadership positions at the club, district and international levels. Chemistry teacher, Kathy Boerigter, is the faculty sponsor for the LAHS Key Club.

Eighteen LAHS students and four accompanying adults will travel to El Paso from March 24-26 to attend the Southwest District Key Club Convention. At the convention they will meet fellow Key Clubbers from Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. Workshops will teach them about Key Club organization, service projects and fundraising. There will be specific leadership training for the newly-elected officers.
