SPORTS News:

The Los Alamos High School Girl’s golf team went into their last two fall tournaments needing to post a low score in one of those two in order to qualify for the state tournament. They wound up posting qualifying scores in both!

The team traveled to the Los Altos Golf Course Oct. 20 needing one final leg to qualify for state. They needed to post a 407 or better. They wound up posting a 355, which was not only good enough for their third qualifying leg but was good enough for second place.

With the third leg already taken care of, they went into their last fall tournament at the Albuquerque Country Club basically playing with house money. Once again they needed a 407 or better to get a leg and wound up with a 378, giving them a fourth leg and improving their seeding going into state.

Freshman Leah Mountain topped off her great fall season with a second place 82.

The team itself took second behind powerful St. Pius X. They now have a break from competition until spring but will be working through the winter on their conditioning and swing adjustments.
