The Los Alamos Hockey Association (LAHA) is hosting the Holiday Ice Hockey Festival Dec. 27-30 at the Los Alamos County Ice Rink.

Geared for younger players, the annual event brings in teams from Albuquerque, Rio Rancho, Taos, Austin, Texas and Odessa, Texas.

The line-up includes the Mites playing Dec. 27-28, Peewees Dec. 27-28, Atoms/Mini-Mites Dec. 29-30 and Squirts Dec. 29-30.

The games are 40 minutes long and played on a third of the ice with a line change every 2 minutes, this way every player has a turn on the ice. Also, the score is not kept.

LAHA is the largest youth hockey association in the state of New Mexico and offers hockey programs for boys and girls aged 4 to 19. The 501(c)3 non-profit organization is dedicated to the promotion and encouragement of amateur hockey for Los Alamos and the greater Los Alamos County area. LAHA strives to develop character, integrity, teamwork and above all sportsmanship. Players are taught the importance of respect for their coaches, teammates, opposing players and officials.
