The Los Alamos Federation of Republican Women held their first get together of the year Thursday, Jan. 12. They were fortunate to have a guided tour of the newly renovated Los Alamos History Museum by its Executive Director Heather McClenahan.
It was an amazing tour and all members in attendance were thrilled with the renovated facilities and grateful for the opportunity to see them and learn more about the community.
Following the tour, the group held a 2017 planning meeting and had lunch at Pasta Paradiso. Some of the group plans for 2017 include a visit to the legislature with a tour of the Supreme Court, high tea, health Insurance discussion, self defense information, a day out to Taos, community volunteer opportunities and more. The group also had discussions regarding fundraising activities, which help to fund the LAFRW’s Annual Constitution Day essay contest prizes and help sponsor a female student to attend “Girls State”.
The LAFRW has monthly meetings and welcomes women and men of all ages to their public portion of the meeting. Meetings are typically the second Thursday of the month and times/locations vary in order to accommodate as many schedules and needs as possible.
