LAFD Seeks Citizen Volunteers As ‘Bi-Stander’ Actors For Aug. 20 CPR Training Exercise At Ashley Pond Park

LAFD News:

The Los Alamos Fire Department will be conducting CPR (cardio-pulmonary resuscitation) training Aug. 20 at Ashley Pond Park near the concert stage.

This training will include all aspects of a cardiac arrest event, including a 911 call to the Los Alamos Consolidated Dispatch Center from a witness, overthephone CPR instructions from trained dispatchers, the response by LAFD, and treatment by LAFD responders. All treatment and care will be administered to a hi-fidelity CPR mannequin, which measures the effectiveness of the CPR being provided. This training will provide LAFD and Los Alamos with a real-life test of the community’s capabilities.

Citizens who plan to be at Ashley Pond Park Aug. 20, are invited to observe the exercise. LAFD CPR trainers will be available to answer any questions observers may have after providers have completed their training.

Simulated events will occur at 8:45, 9:45, and 10:45 a.m. and again at 12:45, 1:45, 2:45 and 3:45 p.m.

LAFD is looking for citizens interested in participating in the role of a bi-stander making the 911 call; if interested, e-mail contact information to: LAFDCPR@lacnm.us.
