LAFD Responds To Light Fixture Incident At TA-55

Staff Report

The National Nuclear Safety Administration (NNSA) has confirmed reports that the Los Alamos Fire Department responded to a minor incident involving a light fixture at a Los Alamos National Laboratory support building at TA-55.

“At about 10 a.m. Nov. 30, 2017, a light fixture in the PF-314 building – a non-nuclear, non-radiological support warehouse – failed,” an NNSA spokesperson said.  “An employee responded by pulling a fire alarm and turning off the light switch.”

LAFD responded and found a small carbon mark on the light fixture but no other indications of a fire in the building, according to the spokesperson.

“The lighting circuit was made inoperable and the building was returned to facility. The employee acted appropriately and there was no impact on the facility,” she said.
