LAFD Mourns Loss Of Former Firefighter Johnny Tapia

LAFD News:

The Los Alamos Fire Department is sad to announce the death of Johnny Tapia who retired from LAFD in 1997 after 24 years of service.

A longtime resident of Espanola, he passed away peacefully June 1 in his home at the age of 73.

Tapia was a Vietnam Veteran and served with the U.S. Navy. He was the life of the party, making many friends throughout his years. He loved going to the casino, taking road trips, spending time with his loved ones and making jewelry.

He is survived by his wife Julie Gutierrez of Santa Clara Pueblo; his stepchildren Charmaine (Pedro), Abram, Aleena and Samantha; his grandchildren Jaelene, Eliseo and Amalia; and numerous other family members.

The family would like to thank the Santa Clara Pueblo, Los Alamos Fire Department and Pueblo of Pojoaque.
