The LAFC U14 Lasers Boys competitive team played to two hard fought ties in the last two weeks at the Duke City Soccer League in Bernalillo. In the first game, the Lasers tied the Rio Rapids Northern SC Diamondbacks 2-2.
Down by two goals at half time, the Lasers played a tremendous second half, including great defending by Callum Mitchell and Donny De La Cruz and outstanding offensive pressure by Marcus Sintay. Lenny Svyatsky scored both goals, making great runs behind the defense, to secure the come back.
In the second game, the Lasers tied Classic FC Real Azteca 3-3. After an early goal by Classic FC, Aaron Philip quickly answered with a great finish from an assist by Troy Makela. Ty Hinojosa added another goal, dribbling by two defenders and beating the keeper to make it 2-1. Real Azteca made a push late in the second half, and Los Alamos trailed 3-2 with six minutes remaining. A great shot from distance by Shane Tobin sailed over the goalie’s hands to tie the game. Kyle Fenimore and Dominic Dowdy were outstanding on defense and Jon Teague and Aidan Ortiz added great hustle in the midfield. Connor Tepley played great in goal for the Lasers, stopping many shots and making great distributions.
