LAFC: Duke City Competitive Soccer Results

SPORTS News:

Teams from LAYSLs Los Alamos Football Club have begun Fall play in the state’s premiere soccer league at the State Soccer Complex in Bernalillo and the Boys U12 LAFC Bomb tied the Albuquerque Wildfire 4-4 in a nail biter.

The Bomb took the lead first when Aiden Richardson was able to score off a cross. The Wildfire answered quickly with two goals of their own. Down 2-1 at the half, Karl Sinkula tied the game back up with a nice chip shot from outside the box and 3 minutes later Wyatt Cionek gave the Bomb a 3-2 lead with a goal. The Wildfire then scored back to back goals for a 4-3 lead. With 7 minutes left in the game Alex Livescu tied the score from a direct kick. With only a few minutes left, a penalty kick was awarded to the Wildfire but the Bomb’s Kyle Jerkatis made a diving save to preserve the tie.

In a 2nd match, the LAFC Bomb played against Classic FC Team Mexico and fell behind early 2-0 until a shot from Alex Livescu found the back of the net. In the 2nd half, the Bomb’s defense held Team Mexico scoreless, while Kyle Jerkatis scored off of a cross. The fast paced game ended in a 2-2 draw.

The LAFC Lasers U13 boys fell 3-2 in a hard fought match against the Diamondbacks of Rio Rapids Northern SC last Saturday in Bernalillo. The Lasers fell behind 3-0 but mounted a comeback in the second half with a strong effort from the whole team. Shane Tobin distributed nicely to Yaris Eidenbenz, who crossed the ball to Donovan De La Cruz for the Lasers first goal. Just minutes later, Ty Hinojosa made a nice cross to Lenny Svyatsky for the Lasers second goal. Abera Hettinga and Kyle Fenimore, along with Westley Parker in goal, all played great defense for the Lasers.

The Boys U11 LAFC Pumas, won 7-2 against the AYSO Diamondbacks, evening their record to 1-1-1 in their first season in the Duke City Soccer League. Justin Vest led the offensive show with a hat trick, Jackson Boone had a brace, and Maddox Martinez and Lyas Eidenbenz both had one goal apiece. The entire team has been playing well and the defense has been exceptional with great play from Gavin Mitchell, Jack Hawkins, Cohen McKown and Zack Mauro.
