LACF: Funding Opportunities; Roundtable Reminder

LACF News:

The Los Alamos Community Foundation announces two funding opportunities for local nonprofit organizations and details for the next Executive Directors Roundtable event.

Rotary Club of Los Alamos Seeks Funding Requests from Local Organizations

The Rotary Club of Los Alamos has announced that its community funding request applications are now being accepted. This is the second year that the local service organization has offered funding opportunities in the fall and spring. Organizations in Los Alamos and around northern New Mexico may request up to $500 for a specific project. Applications are due March 29 and can be found on the Rotary Club’s website at rotarylosalamos.com/grant-application.

All projects will be considered, but particular attention will be given to projects that fall into one of Rotary’s six areas of focus:

  • Maternal & child health;
  • Basic education & literacy;
  • Economic & community development;
  • Peace & conflict resolution/prevention;
  • Disease prevention & treatment; and
  • Water & sanitation.

Besides funding, organizations will also be able to specify whether there are opportunities for members of the Rotary Club to volunteer their time to assist with the project or initiative.

Up to six organizations will be invited to the Club’s meeting noon to 1 p.m. April 23, to give a short presentation about how the funds would be used. Winners of the grants will be announced and awards presented at the Rotary Club meeting Tuesday, May 7.

Last year, the Rotary Club of Los Alamos including its satellite group STARS, vetted numerous applications from local organizations and ultimately awarded $4,000 in grants.

To apply, organizations in Los Alamos and northern New Mexico should visit rotarylosalamos.com/grant-application and submit the application form online. Alternatively, they may download the form, fill it out, and return it by email to grants@rotarylosalamos.com.

The Rotary Club of Los Alamos has approximately 60 Rotarians working together to serve community and global causes. The Club meets at noon Tuesdays at Cottonwood on the Greens. A satellite of the Club (STARS) meets at 5:30 p.m. every first and third Wednesday at projectY. The meetings are open to anyone who wishes to learn how the Rotary Club of Los Alamos is working to build community, bridge continents, and grow in vocations and friendships.
