LACDC Board Accepts Scott Randall’s Resignation

Scott Randall

LACDC News:

Last Thursday, as had been reported in the local press, Los Alamos Commerce and Development (LACDC) Executive Director Scott Randall was arrested in Los Alamos on misdemeanor charges (DUI and domestic battery). Click here for background.

In an effort to minimize any impact this might have on the LACDC, Randall promptly offered the LACDC Board his resignation, effective immediately.

Monday afternoon, the full Board met to review the situation and voted to accept Randall’s resignation, despite his excellent performance to date. The Board felt that, whatever the final outcome of the charges, the publicity surrounding this incident had significantly impaired his ability to adequately represent the LACDC.

The LACDC will immediately begin the search for a new executive director.

To the LACDC Board of Directors:

As you will quickly be learning, I was arrested late last evening (Thursday) by the Los Alamos Police Department.  The charges, both of which will be aggressively challenged, include:

  • DWI (misdemeanor)
  • Battery against a Household Member (misdemeanor)

I spent the evening at the Justice Center and was released on a bond early this morning.

Needless to say, this entire experience was extremely humiliating and degrading to me personally.  Professionally, this will be an unnecessary and unwarranted embarrassment to the LACDC and the fine work we do.  In order to stifle this embarrassment, at least as much as possible, I will be offering my resignation to Bill Wadt, effective immediately.  Unfortunately, I have not been able to reach Bill as he is travelling home from the State of Washington.

I will let you all know after I’ve spoken to Bill – and how we choose to move forward.

My deepest apologies to each and every one of you –

Scott
