Laboratory Earth Day Trails Tour Open To Public

LANL News:

In celebration of Earth Day, the Trails Management Program at Los Alamos National Laboratory will host a hiking tour the morning of April 14 at Lower Water Canyon and Lion’s Cave Trails.

Laboratory archeologist and biologists will provide information about the landscape and its cultural and biological resources as well as geology.

The 3.5-mile hike has an overall gradual 300-foot elevation change and is estimated to take three hours to complete. Participants should bring water and snacks and have appropriate footwear for hiking on unpaved trails.

All participants will travel to the trailhead on LANL buses. No personal vehicles are permitted given lack of parking in the area.

Note: registration is limited to 40 people to assure resource protection and enjoyment along the route.
