LTM PTA News:

La Tierra Montessori School for the Arts and Science in Española recently formed an official Parent Teacher Association. PTA President Ben Sandoval and fellow PTA officers are working together to build a strong team in order to empower and further unify parents, students and the faculty at La Tierra Montessori School.

Within the first month of establishing the new PTA, the group collaborated with teachers and students of the lower, middle and upper level classrooms to reach out to Berrendo Middle School in Roswell. The New Mexico State PTA put out a call to local PTAs asking for support for the “Hearts for Berrendo Middle School Project.” This was in response to the recent tragedy at that school.

The La Tierra Montessori PTA answered that call and took action. Approximately 100 hearts were created by the students at La Tierra. The hearts all had special messages of encouragement, compassion, friendship and love for students of Berrendo Middle School. Each heart had a special touch and was signed by the artistic students.

The hearts were mailed to Berrendo Middle School in hopes that they might help students, parents and faculty with their grief. The students of La Tierra Montessori also wanted to let the Berrendo Middle School students know that their friends in northern New Mexico care about them and wish for their hearts and wounds to heal.
