When Sharday Vincé moved to Los Alamos in August, she wasn’t sure what path to follow. Fate intervened when she met Roberta Rievra of LA Tan & More.Vincé realized she wanted to continue pursuing her passion for massage therapy. She recently opened Divine Tranquility Massage inside LA Tan & More on Central Avenue near the DMV.

“The opportunity fell into my lap and I didn’t want to run from it,” Vincé said. “I love helping people. When they tell me they feel better, I know I’ve really accomplished something. Massage is what I’m best at.”

Vincé received 720 hours of massage training in Las Cruses before relocating to Los Alamos. She practices traditional Swedish massage, enhanced with a number of other techniques. The goal of Swedish massage is to relax the entire body.

“Each massage session is uniquely customized to the needs of the individual,” Vincé said.

Divine Tranquility also offers Sport Massage, which is a targeted therapeutic treatment for the unique physical and biomechanical needs of athletes, Vincé said.

“This will help you specifically target muscle release and will help improve flexibility, reduce pain and increase range of motion,” she explained.

Vincé also offers Myofascial Release massage. This involves the application of gentle sustained pressure on soft tissue that surround and support muscles throughout the body.

“Pain usually originates from specific points within your myofascial tissues called “trigger points,” she said.

“Myofacial Release massage focuses on reducing pain by easing the tension and tightness in the trigger points,” Vincé said.
“It’s not always easy to understand what trigger point is responsible for the pain.”

In addition to athletes, this type of treatment is good for fibromyalgia and people suffering with migraines, she said.

Divine Tranquility offers kinesiotaping, a taping technique that is designed to facilitate the body’s natural healing process while providing support and stability to muscles and joints without restricting the body’s range of motion, Vincé said.

“It brings the blood to the surface, which promotes healing, and adds a huge amount of support,” she explained. “In addition to healing injuries, the treatment is very effective during pregnancy.”

Divine Tranquility Massage provides  infant and toddler massage, which relaxes and soothes children.

Vincé offers chair massage at events or individually. A chair massage takes 20 minutes or less and is a great way to experience massage for the first time.

“Often this is how people get hooked on massage,” she said.

Vincé is continually adding new techniques to her tool kit.

“The more tools I have, the more I can customize the massage,” she said.

Divine Tranquility offers mobile massage, which means she’ll come to you, massage table and all. This is especially nice for people with injuries or the homebound,Vincé said.

LA Tan & More offers a wide array of other services, as well as massage.
