The Los Alamos Squirt Hockey Team won their second tournament of the year Monday, defeating the Santa Clara Blackhawks 4-3 to capture the Squirt-C championship in Colorado Springs. The LA squirts went undefeated in six games, outscoring their opponents 30-7 over the course of the tournament.
The squirts played a strong overall team game, collecting 19 total assists lead by Sammy Castille, Conner Cook and Ty Swavely with three assists each. The squirts were paced by Andrew Jeffery with a tournament leading 14 points (12 goals; two assists) and by Tyler Weiss with nine points (seven goals; two assists). Goalie Quintus Van de Water stopped 45 shots on his way to a 87 percent save percentage.
The squirt tournament team is coached by Chris Jeffery, Jeffrey Goettee, Russell Nolen, Warren Oldham and Richard Van de Water.
