LA Sportsmen’s Club Hosts Junior Olympic Qualifier

Young athletes from across New Mexico shot International Bunker Trap in the cold and rain Saturday, May 16 at the Los Alamos Sportsmen’s Club to qualify for the Junior National Olympic Shotgun Competition in Colorado Springs July 20-26.
 
Los Alamos participants were Kes Luchini, Josh Smith, David Smith, Chris Bond, and Sam Bond. They were joined by Shanna Moss and Jourdyn Rino from Aztec, Lauren Williams and Savannah Williams from La Plata, and Garit Graham from Texico.
 
Chris Bond won men’s gold, Josh Smith took silver, and Garit Graham took bronze. A 15-shot shoot-off between Chris Bond and Josh Smith was required to determine the gold medal winner. The women’s gold went to Kes Luchini, silver to Savannah Williams and Shanna Moss beat Jourdyn Rino by one target for the bronze.
