LA Sportsman’s Club Closes Per Public Health Order

By Board of Directors
Los Alamos Sportsman’s Club

Due to the recent and rapid statewide increase in the COVID-19 infection rate, Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham announced a more aggressive list of restrictions for the next two-week period starting Monday, Nov. 16.

These impact the Club and therefore we must temporarily shut the ranges down.

The paragraph in the order under the heading “OUTDOOR RECREATIONAL FACILITIES MAY NOT OPERATE” is most applicable to our club. “Outdoor recreational facilities – such as outdoor golf courses, public swimming pools, outdoor tennis courts, ski basins, youth programs, youth livestock shows, u-pick produce operations and corn mazes, horse racing tracks, botanical gardens, outdoor zoos, and New Mexico state parks – will close through Nov. 30 for the duration of the public health order.”

The LASC Board sees no alternative to avoiding closure and indeed, trying to stay open may not be in the best interests of club member’s heath or the club’s legal well-being. Therefore, to abide by the public health order and in consideration of the health and well-being of membership, all ranges will be closed (except for construction & maintenance activities) starting Nov. 16 through Nov. 30.

The Board apologizes to membership for the inconvenience and disappointment during the holidays. We realize that with so much shut down, going to the range may be one of our club member’s few enjoyable outlets. We hope to open soon but a lot of that depends on the future spread of COVID-19 and the state’s response.

Stay well and take care of yourselves.
