The Los Alamos Piecemakers Quilt Guild invites the public to a free lecture by well-known quilt artist Melody Crust. If people have attended the Houston Quilt Show they have no doubt heard Crust share her humorous stories of how she recovered from quilt disasters and made “silk purses” out of “sows ears”.
She will present the free lecture “So Many Ideas, So Little Time” at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23 at the White Rock Presbyterian Church at 310 Rover Blvd. This is the monthly Guild meeting and a short business meeting will precede the program.
Crust will conduct a workshop Wednesday, Oct. 24 entitled “Fast Finishes”, a quilt as you-go method that allows for more detailed quilting using your home sewing machine. It concludes with a hands-on tutorial for a super-fast binding. Attendees will go home with a completed sample as a “how to” reference for your future projects. The workshop is 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Graves Hall at the United Church on Canyon Road in Los Alamos. The cost for members is $40 and non-members is $50.
Sign-up by e-mail email@example.com. Supply list available on Crust’s website, http://melodycrust.com/work_fast_finishes.htm, or contact Deb. Space is limited to 20 participants.
Crust will teach 10 different classes at the Houston Quilt Show this year. She is the author of four books and invites readers to check out her website at melodycrust.com and her BLOG at http://melodycrust.blogspot.com.
