The girls of Los Alamos High Flyers Gymnastics traveled to Rio Rancho to take on the teams from around the state last weekend.
High Flyers is in the middle of its competition season and did extremely well at the competition. High Flyers entered nine girls in the level 3 competition and swept the top four positions of 9 year olds and up.
- Bella Garcia won first place with an all round score of 35.8
- Emme Mooday won second with an all round score of 35.3
- Ella Gaffney won third with an all round score of 34.7
- Sofi Vandenkieboom took fourth with an all round score of 33.25
In level 4, Amaya Coblentz took second place in her age division with a score of 35.6, which also qualified her for the state championship. In a Santa Fe meet three weeks ago, she took first place in the level 4 competition.
Coach Leslie Puckett reports she is happy with the level the girls have achieved by mid season. The Los Alamos based team has one more competition in January to take on the large gyms of Albuquerque. So far, it has qualified 10 girls for the state meet in February and hopes to qualify three more at their next meet.
