For the first time, KTAOS 101.9 FM is broadcasting outside of Taos. Throughout Friday, the solar-powered radio station will be transmitting live from Los Alamos.

KTAOS National Marketing Representative Tom Gatti said DJ Paddy Mac will host his Friday morning show, which is 8:15 a.m. to noon, at Fuller Lodge. Then, from 2-4 p.m. Friday Paddy Mac and station owner Katie Speirs will be at Petree Garden Center and Florist.

While at Fuller Lodge, Paddy Mac will interview 13 local businesses including Flowers by Gillian, the Los Alamos History Museum, the Bradbury Science Museum’s Gadgets gift shop, the Los Alamos Co-op Market and L.A. Bootery.

At Petree Garden Center and Florist, a small business mixer will be hosted. Businesses that participate in the radio interviews will have the chance to win free advertising with KTAOS.

Gatti said this is the first time that the radio station has broadcast outside of Taos, but the hope is to make it a regularly scheduled event.

“This is the first one,” he said. “We’re very excited about it.”

Gatti added that the Los Alamos Chamber of Commerce helped make the broadcast possible.

“They’ve been awesome,” he said.

Los Alamos Chamber of Commerce Director Ryn Herrmann said unfortunately Los Alamos’s sole radio station, KRSN, closed so being featured on KTAOS is a great opportunity for businesses.

“Due to this promotion with KTAOS, it allows businesses to reach out to a regional audience,” she said.
