Xie was recognized as an enthusiastic community volunteer since she arrived in Los Alamos in 2006. She volunteered at the Mesa Public Library in her elementary school years. During her high school career, Xie volunteered in Teen Court for three years serving as an attorney and member of the Jury. She also has served as a Youth Leader for Cafe Scientifique and sent birthday cards to members at the Betty Ehart Center. In addition, she volunteered for two years at LAMC’s Emergency Room and OB Department. This fall, Xie will attend Bowdoin College in Maine to study Biochemistry.  Kiwanis was founded in 1948 and is the oldest service organization in Los Alamos and focuses on youth projects.  For more information on Kiwanis, visit their web site at www.losalamos.kiwanisone.org. Kiwanis meets each Tuesday at noon at the Trinity on the Hill Church and is open to everyone. Photo by Sharon Stover
