Mitch is an older dog who was part of a hoarding case in Edgewood. He was brought to Kindred Spirits Animal Sanctuary, just outside of Santa Fe, which offers eldercare and hospice to older companion animals; dogs, horses and poultry. Mitch is blind and finally feels safe in his new home.

Kindred Spirits Animal Sanctuary is hosting its annual Spring Open House and Collective Birthday Party for all the animals at the sanctuary.

The event is 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, May 10 and 11. Each day offers free workshops in successful Wellness Care, healthy refreshments at the barn and the entire two-day event is free and open to the public.

This is a great opportunity for the whole family to meet the many happy and healthy seniors and enjoy a spring day in the serene and peaceful country setting. Many local artists have donated unique and fun gift items of art and jewelry for Mother’s Day. Every penny goes to the animals.

Kindred Spirits Animal Sanctuary is at 3749-A Highway 14. For more information, visit www.kindredspiritsnm.org or call 505.471.5366.
