I am writing to announce my retirement from RE/MAX First and real estate. I am proud of my accomplishments over the years; RE/MAX Hall of Fame, RE/MAX Chairman’s Club, and Ranking in top 3 Realtors (based on transactions) in Los Alamos for the past 10 years.
Serving as the President of the Los Alamos Association of Realtors in 2010, and being presented with a Community Service Award in 2019 were also highlights along the way.
However I received my greatest satisfaction from working with hundreds of good people like you in the Los Alamos, Santa Fe, Rio Arriba and Jemez areas. I’ve met so many interesting and lovely families. I also had the privilege to work with many past students and many of my peer’s from growing up in Los Alamos. I was reminded on a daily basis of just how remarkable and vibrant our community is.
Now my own children are having children and I’m ready for my next big adventure – grand parenting!! I plan to spend the near future with my family in Colorado, helping my younger daughter with the birth of her first child. Over time I hope to pick up some fun hobbies, and I may even take on a third career at some point (albeit one that is less stressful than real estate!).
Don’t worry! I have a worthy replacement; Thea Smith Nilsson, RE/MAX First’s newest Realtor! She is my niece and has deep roots in Los Alamos! In fact, both of her parents, her grandparents and all of her aunts and uncles were raised and/or live in Los Alamos.
Thanks to her extended family, Thea is very familiar with Northern New Mexico, and Los Alamos in particular. Thea grew up in the Bay Area of California. In her previous career, Thea led corporate philanthropy and employee engagement initiatives for large tech companies in Silicon Valley. She is smart, tech savvy, resourceful, diligent and trustworthy.
Since August I have been closely mentoring Thea to take over my business, and believe me, this lady is ready to roll! I hope you will reach out to Thea for your future real estate needs, I am certain she will take great care of you!
