Karyne Archuleta Bound Over To District Court

COURT News:

Karyne Archuleta, 54, of Espanola was bound over to First Judicial District Court Friday on a charge of embezzlement of more than $17,500 from her former employer, Annette Wyrauch, owner of Physical Therapy Plus in Los Alamos.

Magistrate Judge Matthew “Mateo” Page made the ruling in Los Alamos Magistrate following a lengthy preliminary hearing with Assistant District Attorney Kent Wahlquist and Archuleta’s attorney Michael Jones. Witnesses at the preliminary hearing Friday were case agent Los Alamos Police Det. Joey Robinson, Weyrauch and several physical therapists from Physical Therapy Plus.

Two Magistrate Court Judges, Judge Pat Casados and Judge Alexandra Naranjo, had recused themselves from the case.

Court documents filed by Robinson Dec. 5 allege that during the duration of Archuleta’s employment as office manager at the business, $37,544.80 in cash was logged into the computer system but only $20,440.60 was deposited in the bank. The documents state that because Archuleta was the person in charge of handling the money that was brought into all three branches of the business and there is was no record of her ever finding a shortage when the cash for deposit to the bank was brought to her, it is believed that she embezzled $17,504.20 from the business.
