The Family YMCA’s Board of Directors accepted Karen Easton to its ranks during its Sept. 28 meeting.
Easton and her family have been members of the Y for 14 years.
“We’ve enjoyed a variety of programs offered from fitness to childcare,” she said.
Easton is a community banker with more than 25 years of service and banking experience in management, private banking and wealth management. She is a vice president/branch manager for century Bank. She is a graduate of Portland State University and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science.
“Joining the Board of The Family YMCA is my way of giving back to an organization that has given so much to me, my family and the community,” Easton said. “I look forward to helping families like mine continue to have access to the variety and quality of programs provided by the Y that contribute to the health and wellness of Northern New Mexico.”
The Y is a charitable organization established by volunteers in 1955 who petitioned Congress for the donation of land. The Y served 8,000 people last year in programs and membership that breaks down into 3,700 youth and teens (2,500 served through teen centers in Española and Los Alamos), 3,700 adults and 600 senior citizens.
