June 3 Primary Election Polling Places Set

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos County Clerk Sharon Stover announced this morning that the County has received approval to move one of three voting convenience center locations that will be used for Tuesday’s primary election.

Three voting centers will be open on Tuesday:

  • Municipal Building (Room 110);
  • White Rock Fire Station #3; and
  • Duane W. Smith Auditorium at Los Alamos High School.

The auditorium is the change in location – voting was originally set to occur at the new Golf Course Community Building; however, its delayed opening prompted the Clerk to request the change from the State of New Mexico today. Changing vote centers requires approval from the State.

“We were alerted last week that the Golf Course Community Building would not receive a temporary certificate of occupancy in time for the June 3 election to be held there as we had planned last fall,” Stover explained, adding that she worked with Superintendent of Public Schools Gene Schmidt to move the voting center to Duane Smith Auditorium and appreciated the quick response to assist the County in finding a new location that would be easily accessible for voters.

On-site signage Tuesday as well as extensive advance public outreach through a variety of advertising, press, and postings on the website will hopefully spread the word, Stover said. Voters with questions are encouraged to contact the Clerk’s office at 505.662.8010, she said, or visit the Clerk’s webpage at www.losalamosnm.us under the “Election Information” link on the home page.
