Chamber News:
The Los Alamos Chamber of Commerce is hosting a ribbon cutting block party Saturday, October 4 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. to celebrate the completion of the road construction on Central Avenue between 15th & 20th Streets.
“We would like to invite the public to be part of a ‘cash mob’ to show support of the downtown businesses by filling the stores and doing some Saturday shopping as soon as the ribbon is cut,” said Nancy Partridge, Los Alamos Chamber of Commerce Manager.
Immediately following the ribbon cutting at 10:30 a.m., the cash mob is invited to charge through the cut tape and start shopping. The cash mob won’t have any trouble finding great downtown deals with the restaurants and retailers marking the celebration with free samples, sales and more.
Metzger’s Hardware at 1607 Central Avenue will start a new sale and will accept registrations for the $1,000 giveaway. CB FOX at 1735 Central Avenue will host a sidewalk sale and have a Spin-to-Win wheel and chances to win a $200 gift card. Fusion MultiSport at 106 Central Park Square will have a Summer Clearance Sale – Everything Goes at 35% Off. Bennett’s Fine Jewelry and UPEX at 107 and 108 Central Park Square will have coffee and pastries in both stores for shoppers.
There will be no reason for the cash mob to go hungry, either.
Ruby K’s Bagel Café at 1789 Central, Suite 2 will give away sample bagel quarters and discount coupons for smoothies. Manhattan Project at 1789 Central will distribute coupons for 10% off your next meal. Home Run Pizza at 1627 Central will have their mascot Primo The Pizza Slice walk around the block party to distribute coupons good for a discount on pizza purchases.
The cash mob and block party is a great way to spend time with the family on Saturday with several activities to entertain the kids.
For instance, High Flyers Gymnastics at 1631 Central will have a free open gym session from 10 a.m. to noon for anyone ages 2 to 16. The open gym will include obstacle courses, bars, rings, a climbing wall, vault, and pommel horse. Parents must stay to supervise their children.
The Los Alamos Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a free Son-Shine Art face-painting booth for kids on Central Ave and also sponsoring LoveDeeDoo the Clown who will twist balloon creations for the crowd. Meanwhile, the Hill Stompers will donate their performance as a community service to help the downtown merchants.
During the block party Central Avenue will be temporarily closed from 15th street to Oppenheimer. Parking for the event will be available at Central Park Square, Metzger’s Hardware, and Deacon Street. Trinity Drive and Canyon Drive will be the best routes into downtown.
