John Bartlit Presents Unforeseen Opportunity to Council

Los Alamos resident John Bartlit speaking during public comment at this evening’s County Council meeting in Council Chambers. Bartlit said that the County-wide comments for or against a person’s name on the town’s new public building produced an unforeseen opportunity. The concept arose to have the building commemorate and teach the values of democracy that have served our complex nation so long and well, that is, the power of active citizenship to build better ideas, he said. ‘Town Hall’ is a distinctive and powerful icon of democracy at the working level … The name ‘Town Hall on Central,’ coupled with relevant displays in the building, would remind the town, visitors to town, and future generations of our nation’s history and our town’s own role in it.’  Photo by Carol A.
