Los Alamos JJAB is raising funds to provide school supplies to students at Los Alamos Public Schools (LAPS).
The COVID-19 pandemic has provided interesting and challenging times. As our community prepares for a new school year one thing is known, school supplies will be needed. Whether school is remote, in-person, or a combination of the two, students and teachers will need supplies.
For the fifth year, JJAB is asking the community to join us in our efforts to support LAPS students. No matter how learning happens students will still need notebooks, pencils, calculators, binders, crayons, paper, project supplies, and other academic supplies.
Also, in-person learning will have the requirement that students and classrooms do not share supplies; each student will need to have their own.
JJAB is asking for financial donations to purchase supplies for elementary, middle, and high school students. JJAB Resource Specialists will once again work with the school principals and counselors to gather information about student needs. JJAB will then purchase the desired items, as finances allow, and deliver them directly to students in need and/or to the schools.
Last year with the support of individuals, local businesses, and organizations, JJAB was able to raise $4,800. The funds were used to purchase notebooks, backpacks, crayons, paper, calculators, emergency snacks, pencils, scissors, earbuds for testing, binders and more.
There are two ways the community can donate to support this project:
- Visit the JJAB website and donate through PayPal www.losalamosjjab.com; and
- Mail a check to Los Alamos JJAB, PO Box 4716, Los Alamos, NM 87547 (Make checks payable to the Los Alamos JJAB and note on the check “school supplies”).
Questions? Contact JJAB at 505.709.8125. All funds donated will go directly to purchasing needed school supplies.
