Javier Sanchez Elected Mayor Of Española

POLITICAL News:

Businessman Javier Sanchez was elected mayor of Española Tuesday night by an overwhelming margin.

The Española City Clerk has released unofficial results for the 2018 municipal elections. It shows voters elected Sanchez by nearly 54 percent in a three-candidate race.

Sanchez, who declined to state his political party, moved to the Española Valley more than 20 years ago. He co-owns La Cocina Restaurant in Española.

Sanchez received a Congressional scholarship to attend high school in Stade, Germany as a foreign exchange student. He spent time studying at the University of Heidelberg, Germany and worked for Accenture (formerly Andersen Consulting) in Munich, Germany as a business consultant. Sanchez received his undergraduate degree with Honors in Philosophy from Yale University and his Master of Business Administration—Finance from the University of Notre Dame.

He serves on the board of the Regional Development Corporation and Northern New Mexico Crisis Center.
