James Auchampaugh, owner of Casa Hermosa Builders LLC, a lifelong resident of Los Alamos and award-winning designer and builder has taken over ABC Fine Cabinetry LLC (formerly ADC Kitchen and Bath Design) from longtime owner Alec Caspersen who retired in January.

Auchampaugh and Casperson have known each other since their days as students at Los Alamos High School.

ABC Fine Cabinetry continues to feature DeWils Cabinetry as well as a new line, Bridgewood Cabinetry, all made in America, Auchampaugh said.

“I have more than 35 years of experience and 325 projects completed in northern New Mexico, he said. “I stand behind my promise to put his clients first, complete all projects on time and on budget, and provide the best craftsmanship under one roof.”

Auchampaugh calls his business “passion-based”.

“I have a passion for my craft and for my community,” Auchampaugh said. “I have volunteered thousands of hours serving the community of Los Alamos and surrounding areas, and have participated as a member of many state and local boards in the field of construction. We should all give back. We need to step up and see people through the pandemic. We can all make it if we work together.”

One way Auchampaugh gives back is through mentoring youth and teaching others the skills he’s honed during his career. Recently, a former high school classmate alerted him to the hunger problem in Los Alamos and he decided to help. Auchampaugh is donating five percent of the profits for his sales to LA Cares foodbank. With 10 percent off DeWils and 15 percent off Bridgewood Cabinetry through April 15, his customers can save and give back to the community at the same time.

Auchampaugh has worked with many builders in Los Alamos, Santa Fe and all throughout northern New Mexico for their cabinet needs, and also can work directly with homeowners, providing high quality cabinetry for do-it-yourself projects. He has something for every budget, he said.

ABC Fine Cabinetry Design Studio has a clean, bright and up to date showroom at 212 DP Road. 2020 Design Studio is used for all cabinet layouts, working drawings and 3D renderings, he said. This feature allows the customer to view all aspects of their kitchen design before getting started. During the pandemic he is asking people to make appointments to visit to insure social distancing. Auchampaugh is happy to provide local references. He has many repeat clients and has worked hard to maintain his good reputation, he said.

“Don’t forget about the businesses on DP Road,” Auchampaugh said. “So many good people are in business here and our businesses have suffered, from both the road construction and the pandemic. Give local businesses a chance before you go off the hill. We need to bring our dollars home. You’ll be amazed at the level of service you’ll get.”

Auchampaugh said the favorite part of his career is designing a project and seeing it come to fruition.

“I like to help people realize their dreams,” he said. “It’s great to watch the light bulb go off when people realize all the things they can do. I love collaborating with clients.”
