Held each September, the New Mexico State Fair remains one of the largest fairs in the nation, with PRCA rodeo and nationally known country-western recording stars, and the Indian and Spanish villages – all the makings for a fantastic family experience!

The New Mexico State Fair offers livestock exhibits and competitions of all kinds to local farmers, ranchers, and 4H club members, while school children from all over the state look forward to seeing their art work displayed in one of the exhibit halls.

Stop by the midway and checkout the excitement of rides and games of skill. The snacks are plentiful, and the exhibit halls are packed with the finest arts, crafts and livestock that New Mexico has to offer.

A study piloted by has ranked the New Mexico State Fair as the second best state fair in the country for the second year running. Maintaining the same position as last year, the New Mexico State Fair received high marks for affordability and high attendance rates. More than 460,000 people attended the state fair in 2017, equivalent to 22 percent of the state’s total population.

“This proves again we’re one of the best when it comes to providing an outstanding experience for our customers, and we appreciate that. Our visitors love the fair,” General Manager Dan Mourning said. “We’re planning a fair this year that’ll be better than ever. We want to be number one!”

The study ranked various state fairs around the country on the basis of five distinct factors: fair length, rate of attendance, cost of general admission for adults and children and weather.

Despite inclement weather, the 2017 New Mexico State Fair still brought in high volumes of people.
