IHM News:
If you have ever wondered if there is more to life than this, how you can make the most of your life, about the existence of God, the afterlife, who is Jesus, or how we can have faith, the Alpha Course may be just what you are looking for.
Beginning Wednesday, Sept. 16 through Dec. 16, the course is 6-9 p.m. each Wednesday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish Hall. There is no charge for the course and no commitment.
“The Alpha Course is a practical to the Christian faith, a place where guests have an opportunity to explore the meaning of life in a relaxed, friendly setting”, IHM Deacon Jim O’Hara says. “Alpha is for everyone, from people who may just be a little curious about what this Christianity thing is all about, to those who want to deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ.”
Having begun in Central London in the 1970s as a means of presenting the basic principles of Christianity to new Christians. Alpha has spread around the world, as more and more Churches found it to be an effective way to answer people’s questions about the Christian faith. The New York Times calls it “A novel approach to Christian that has been catching on nationwide”.
Many participants have never been to church, others may have attended church occasionally but feel they have never really understood the basics of the Christian faith. Alpha is for anyone who’s curious. The talks are designed to encourage debate and explore the basics of the Christian faith in a friendly, honest and informal environment.
